Daniel en Sara zijn beide gecast in de nieuwe horror film ‘Shaman’, de film zal o.a. deel uitmaken van het Toronto International Film Festival. Waar geporobeerd wordt de rechten van de film te verkopen.

Myriad Pictures heads to Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) with sales rights to Antonio Negret’s supernatural horror thriller Shaman and will launch talks this week.

The US-Ecuadorian co-production from Epopeya Films, Macumba Films, and Night Tree stars Sara Canning and Daniel Gillies from The Vampire Diaries, Jett Klyne from Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, and newcomer Humberto Morales.

Shaman is based on a screenplay by Daniel Negret, the head of Australian producer Causeway Films’ London office who served as executive producer on the 2023 horror hit Talk To Me.

It centres on a Missionary working among the Indigenous community in the Ecuadorian Andes who suspects a local shaman may be responsible when her son is taken ill.

Colombian filmmaker Antonio Negret said, “With Shaman, we set out to flip the white saviour trope on its head and shed light on the dangers of forcing one’s beliefs onto others. We hope this film makes people think, while also disturbing them in the most horrific ways.”

Myriad head Kirk D’Amico said, “Authentically set in the Ecuadorian mountains the film is both beautiful and scary at the same time. This film overlays rituals from the Indigenous culture with North American characters to provide audiences with a film destined to become a modern horror box office success.”

D’Amico and his team handle international sales, while Paradigm represents US rights.

Antonio Negret’s debut Towards Darkness starring America Ferrera premiered in competition at 2007 Tribeca Film Festival. His credits include Seconds Apart, Transit, and Overdrive starring Scott Eastwood and Ana de Armas, which Paramount released.

Matthew’s nieuwste film ‘Held Hostage in My House’ is gisteren uitgezonden op de Amerikaanse zender Lifetime. De film was eerder bekent onder de naam ‘Blunt’, hieronder een achter de schermen interview met Matthew.

Sara is vorige maand gecast in de film ‘One Mile’ en diens vervolg ‘One More Mile’. Biede film zullen achter elkaar opgenomen worden en de opnames beginnen morgen in Vancouver Island.

C. Thomas Howell (Obliterated) and Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries) have been cast opposite Ryan Phillippe and Amélie Hoeferle in the feature One Mile and its sequel, One More Mile, from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment and Paramount’s Republic Pictures.

Adam Davidson is directing the movies, which will be filmed simultaneously. Production is slated to begin Sept. 9 on Vancouver Island.

In One Mile and its sequel — written by John Hlavin based with rewrites by TJ Brady and Rasheed Newson — when an estranged father, Danny (Phillippe), and daughter, Alex (Hoeferle), go off for college tours, they get more than they bargained for when they get lost and stumble across a hostile, off-the-grid community.

Leah is gecast in de nieuwe film ‘Bring The Law’, opnames voor de film zijn inmiddels al afgerond.

Production has wrapped on Bring the Law, an action-thriller that marks the directorial debut of actress Scout Taylor Compton (2007’s Halloween).

The film, hailing from Hillin Entertainment and produced by Daemon Hillin and Carolina Brasil, stars Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler), Peter Facinelli (Twilight), Nicky Whelan (The Flood), Danielle Harris (Halloween), Brendan Fehr (Roswell), and Leah Pipes (The Originals).

The film sees a grieving homicide detective chosen to lead a task force in Los Angeles to stop a criminal organization. He soon unravels a conspiracy involving corruption in his own department.

Film Bridge International will be repping world sales. Pic is written by Josh Ridgway from a story by Daniel Figueiredo.

Daniel’s nieuwe serie ‘Sight Unseen’ is door de Canadese zender CTV vernieuwd voor een tweede seizoen en januari 2024 op de zender te zien zal zijn. De serie was enkele maanden na de release en Canada ook te zien op de Amerikaanse zender The CW, het is nog niet bekend of het nieuwe seizoen ook daar uitgezonden gaat worden.

Torrey heeft vorige maand via instagram laten weten in verwachting te zijn van haar eerste kind. Samen met partner Jared LaPine verwacht ze een dochter in november, het stel is sinds vorig jaar samen en verloofde zich afgelopen september.
